The Lt. Commander's Confederate Comments:

OPERATION ROUND-UP

Please pass the enclosed information along immediately.
Ask your memberships to get involved in this project and let's offer every qualified man in South Carolina the opportunity to join our organization.

Please ask them to act quickly.

Thank you very much,

Irvin Shuler, Lt. Commander
South Carolina Division2361 Antioch Road,Santee, SC 29142

All Brigade Commanders are asked to pass this request for information along to each Camp in your Brigade as soon as possible.  Let us have some friendly competition among you six Commanders and see which of you will be the first to have 100 per-cent participation.
  1. Have every Camp member make a list of friends, relatives, business acquaintances, or other men, along with contact information, and see that this is sent to Division Lt. Commander, Irwin Shuler at Dixieforrest@aol.com. *  Do not use just those men from your neighborhood.  We all know men, high school and college friends, business associates, and past members who live all over South Carolina and we need these men on our membership rosters.  Please include mailing addresses, phone numbers, and e-mail information.
  1. I will put these names together, according to Brigades, an re-distribute them, along with contact info, to Brigade and Camp Commanders.  This will give us a great recruiting base, but we need everyone to participate.  After contact by Brigade and/or Camp, I will mail a letter from Division inviting these men to attend a meeting and submitting an application for membership.
  1. If you have names of possible members who live out-of-state, include them on a different list and I'll pass them on to North Carolina, Georgia, etc.  If some of these men live in Savannah, Augusta, or Charlotte, they might even consider joining across the border.  Do not let state boundaries stand in our way of offering membership to a qualified individual.
  1. I ask that you move quickly.  Send this request to all of your Camps by e-mail immediately.  Ask Camps to pass this info along as soon as it is received and let us not wait for all members to respond before doing it, no matter what part of where they live in our state.  This is why we call this Operation Round-Up.
*  If you are concerned about internet security and your members prefer you send their information via USPS, please use the residence address above for Lt. Commander Shuler.

Charge to the Sons of Confederate Veterans:
------------------

"To you, Sons of Confederate Veterans, we submit the vindication of the Cause for which we fought; to your strength will be given the defense of the Confederate soldier's good name, the guardianship of his history, the emulation of his virtues, the perpetuation of those principles he loved and which made him glorious and which you also cherish. Remember, it is your duty to see that the true history of the South is presented to future generations."
