Members of the South Carolina Division
Sons of Confederate Veterans

The Awards Guidelines have been posted on the web. Please read the awards criteria carefully. There may have been several changes to the Awards criteria.

The award judging is scheduled to take place in February. The location will be announced at a later date. Please be advised that all submissions for awards must be sent to the Awards Chairman by February 1.

Scrapbooks will be judged at this meeting. Please have your scrapbook delivered to the committee prior to the meeting start. The decision to judge scrapbooks at this meeting was made to allow the judges the opportunity to participate in convention activities. In the past they forgo convention activities to judge scrapbooks. If you deliver the Scrapbook in person, remember that the award meeting is for judges only. You may want to contact your Brigades judge to forward your scrapbook to the judging site.

The newsletter award has changed in that you need to submit a letter of intent to compete for the newsletter award. This affords the camp the opportunity to insure their newsletters are arriving. If a judge does not receive the monthly issue, they will now know to contact the camp editor to have it sent. Remember that all judges need to be included on your distribution list. The contact information for the judges is listed in the Awards Guidelines. This change was made so that they have time to review the newsletters prior to attending the awards meeting. If your camp is planning on entering the newsletter competition, add all of the judges to your distribution list! You will also need to send a submission letter per the guidelines to show how much of the criteria your camp accomplished.

I will accept hand-deliveries, UPS, FedEx, etc. until midnight February 1.

Charge to the Sons of Confederate Veterans:
"To you, Sons of Confederate Veterans, we submit the vindication of the Cause for which we fought; to your strength will be given the defense of the Confederate soldier's good name, the guardianship of his history, the emulation of his virtues, the perpetuation of those principles he loved and which made him glorious and which you also cherish. Remember, it is your duty to see that the true history of the South is presented to future generations."
